People Before Profit To Host Public Meeting on Equality Referendum in Cork
The Cork Branch of the People Before Profit Alliance will host a public meeting on the upcoming Equality Referendum. The meeting will take place on Wednesday April 29th at 8pm. The venue is the Shandon Court Maldron Hotel on John Redmond Street.
This meeting is in support of the Yes Equality Campaign and all are welcome to come listen to the featured speakers and to take part in the discussion
Featured speakers at the event will be Ailbhe Smyth and Arthur Leahy.
Ailbhe Smyth is a prominent feminist and researcher and consultant in the field of gender equality and LGBT issues. She has been active in the women’s movement in Ireland since the late 1970s. She set up the Women’s Education Research and Resource Centre (WERRC) at UCD in 1990. She has worked extensively with community-based and national voluntary sector organisations on women’s and equality issues.
Arthur Leahy is a well known gay activist based in the Cork area. He has been an active campaigner for equality and LGBT rights for many years and works with the Yes Equality campaign in Cork. Arthur was a recipient of the Lifetime Rebel Award in 2012 and continues to campaign on issues related to the struggle for equality of minorities and individuals.
